Kathy and I traveled by train to Philadelphia yesterday (Saturday, October 7th) and spent the day roaming around looking for a homeless individual to interview and offer our care package to (which will be featured in our next post). We met two wonderful women, although one respectively declined having her story shared so I will refrain from posting any of her personal information, but Dora’s story will be featured next!
However, the purpose of this post is to inform everyone that donations are being accepted and are greatly appreciated! After I first shared the link to our blog on my Facebook page one of Kathy’s good friends sent her a private message and asked if we would accept a large bundle of shampoo and conditioner that she has accumulated and requested that we put them towards our weekly care packages. Kathy graciously said yes and we will now provide each care package with a bottle of shampoo and conditioner while supplies last. We are extremely grateful for this thoughtful donation!
My Dad, being a dad, also told all his work buddies about my blog and bragged about what we’re doing. We now have numerous people at his job who would like to donate various items such as clothing, food, personal care products, ect. and we could’t be happier to accept them! Thanks to their help we are now accumulating a back stock in which we will pull items from and create a personalized care package to take with us on our weekly visits to Philadelphia. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of others and encourage our readers to reach out to us at any time if they would also like to make a donation.
On another note, I took the time today to create a GoFundMe page which can be located here. Any form of help is appreciated and any and all donations made to our GoFundMe page will go directly towards our care packages.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, our first personal story will be up shortly which will be featuring a homeless woman named Dora!
